Commentary: My Top 8 Free Avatar Generators
Recently, Fiverr ran a post on Facebook, an ad really, that would let you generate an avatar at the low, low cost of $5. In liue of spending money on single use digital toys, I decided to type "Free Avatar Generator" into my seach bar to see if I could Google a better deal. A couple of these required that I print screen and use a photoshop program to get them, but at a cost of nothing, they were well worth it. These are my top eight picks:
This the barebones of what I started with:
THE HORROR!
This one I kinda liked. Although I had some difficulty with the hair/beard color and... If I an every seen wearing cargo shorts, please assume I'm being held against my will and need help.
why are my hands bigger than my feet!?
South Park came up next. And for reasons unknown, I opted for Canadian. I couldn't quite get the hair color, and evidently Canadians cannot grow facial hair, there was also a severe lack of catapillars to staple to my forehead. The location is for personal reasons. The coat was recoved from the side of the road.
No animals were harmed in the making of this image.
This one (right) was easy to use and download, but everything about it screams hipster... If that's your thing, please check out Avachara.
suddenly i want to drink bad beer and complain about pop culture.
I then ran into Doppelme. It reminded me of an 8-bit game that tried to hard and gave up.
Avatar Maker, art wise, seems to be reaching for something it won't quite get to. Still the commands were organic, were was easy to use, and it had lots of options.
Pho.to was painfully straightfoward and reminded me of the parody magazines you can still buy online.
ladies...
Picasso Head may have been my favorite. While there weren't many options and I had to screenshot my final image, it required the most introspection.
i am so deep.
Planet Creation was probably the easiest to use and nearly beat Picasso Head. This was was lots of fun and comes with a lot of fun accessories.
finally! an avatar with sass!
